Festival "Bicho d'Pêssego": contemporary music in historic spaces of Funchal

The Bicho d'Pêssego — Cultural Association of Madeira presents the first edition of the Festival Bicho d'Pêssego, dedicated to contemporary music. The festival takes place on September 11 and 12, over two days, in the city of Funchal.

Throughout the event, three concerts will be held in historic spaces of the city. All concerts include premieres of original works composed specifically for the festival.

The festival opens on Friday, September 11, with the first concert. The organization is in charge of the Madeiran cultural association Bicho d'Pêssego.

"Preto no Branco": Jorge Barroso brings 36 works to Vila Viçosa and turns contrast into art (with photos)

Painter Jorge Barroso inaugurated the exhibition "Preto no Branco – Black in White" at the Florbela Espanca Cinema-Theatre Gallery in Vila Viçosa, bringing together 36 works marked by the exclusive use of black and white tones. A native of Rio de Moinhos and self-taught, the artist has dedicated himself to painting and writing for about 30 years, exploring through chiaroscuro the depth, volume and different interpretations in his works. This is the first time he exhibits in Vila Viçosa, with the Vice-President of the Municipal Council, Tiago Salgueiro, highlighting the quality of the works presented. The exhibition can be visited until September 27.
