Douglas Ruas, PL candidate for governor of Rio de Janeiro, criticized former governor Cláudio Castro during a debate held by radio CBN and newspapers O Globo, Extra and Valor. The candidate tried to distance himself from Castro's figure also on the matter of urban mobility, highlighting the lack of investment in transportation during the previous administration.
Ruas stated that, if elected, he won't be able to inaugurate metro line 3 because there isn't enough time. He criticized the choice for electoral works that allowed ribbon-cutting during the term, to the detriment of proper mass transport infrastructure advancement in the state.
The candidate said that the decision to choose Washington Reis for the transportation secretary position in Castro's government is the responsibility of the former governor. Ruas stated he does not agree with the mobility policy that was followed and advocates that the state have a state policy and not just government policies.
During the debate, Douglas Ruas advocated that he intends to implement a state policy based on continuity, different from what occurred in previous administrations. He reaffirmed his critical position regarding the past administration and promised changes if elected.
