The cause of a large avalanche that occurred in the Alps last year has been identified by specialists. The incident, which caused fatalities, is now linked to specific meteorological conditions that favored the displacement of large masses of snow on the mountain.
The researchers who analyzed the avalanche in the Alps found similarities with events that occurred in Nepal, which suggests common patterns in the formation of these occurrences in different mountainous regions of the world. This comparison may help better predict similar events in the future.
