Hugo Soares publicly accused Craneiro of being the "father of the extinction of SEF in Portugal and unregulated immigration," in a statement that marks a strong political criticism related to the country's immigration policies.
SEF (Foreigners and Borders Service) was effectively extinguished in Portugal, with its competencies transferred to other entities, a change that has been the subject of political debate in the country.
Regarding the fiscal measures announced by Montenegro, Hugo Soares considered that "it is fair, if possible and while keeping public accounts sound, to look at those who work and allow them to have more income, paying less taxes."
Hugo Soares completed his intervention by directly addressing Montenegro, stating that these measures represent "the fifth time in two years" of implementation of similar fiscal policies, suggesting that this is a repetition of promises or initiatives previously carried out.
