The Feira de São Mateus closed its 2026 edition with over 1 million visitors, over its 32 days of duration, recording an average of more than 31,500 visitors per day. August 6th, opening day, set a new inauguration record with 56,000 visitors, while August 30th was the busiest day, with 57,990 visitors, followed by closing day, September 6th, with 57,537 people.
On the musical front, Calema headlined the most attended concert of the edition, selling out the available capacity and requiring the early closure of ticket sales. José Silva Fernandes, President of Viseu Marca, attributed the success to the collaboration of visitors, operators, artists, partners, staff and entities involved in the organization.
The 2026 edition presented a strong focus on sustainability, health and inclusion, highlighting the holding of the first Book Fair in the event's history and the availability, for the first time, of a concert with Portuguese Sign Language interpretation. The program combined tradition and innovation, with more than 200 activities carried out, including concerts, shows, workshops, health screenings, exhibitions and conferences.
The commercial dimension maintained a central role, with the participation of 227 operators and 23 parish councils from the region. This was the 634th edition of an event with over six centuries of history, which will return in 2027 for its 635th edition.
