Federal Highway Police agents seized 2.5 kilograms of cocaine being transported in the external luggage compartment of a bus on BR-116 Highway, at the height of Sapucaia, in the South-Central region of Rio de Janeiro state. The drug was hidden in the wheels of two shopping carts. A foreign passenger was arrested on suspicion of being responsible for the cargo.
The seizure occurred during a routine inspection by the K9 Operations Group (GOC-RJ) on the highway. The drug detection dogs indicated the presence of drugs in the shopping carts during the vehicle inspection.
The arrested suspect told police that he had picked up the drug in São Paulo and would deliver it in Copacabana, in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro, receiving a sum of money for the transport.
The case was forwarded to the 109th Police Station (Sapucaia), where the case will be investigated.
