The Lifestyle+Healthy project, developed by nurse Bárbara Fernandes at the Community Care Unit (UCC) in Resende, was distinguished as a Good Practice in School Health under the National School Health Programme. The jury considered the project exemplary in promoting healthy lifestyles, highlighting the quality of planning, the use of the Hanlon method, the basis in scientific evidence, the participation of those involved and the structured methodology. The evaluation of results used structure, process and outcome indicators, with the defined objectives being exceeded.
The distinction also took into account the reflection work carried out throughout the project, namely through a SWOT analysis and the definition of concrete measures to improve future intervention. The jury considered that this set of factors demonstrates the quality of the project and its potential to be applied in other contexts.
In parallel, Bárbara Fernandes was nominated by the Governing Board of the Order of Nurses to join the Board of the Specialty College in Community Health Nursing and Public Health. This nomination represents a new professional challenge and allows the nurse to take on a role of participation and representation in an area directly related to the work she carries out in the community.
UCC Resende and the Local Health Unit of Tâmega e Sousa consider both recognitions as validation of the work developed in health promotion, disease prevention and community intervention. ULS Tâmega e Sousa congratulated the nurse, considering that the recognitions contribute to the valorization of community nursing and the recognition of its role in responding to the health needs of populations.
