Herdade da Retortinha wins four medals and puts Sousel on the international wine map

Herdade da Retortinha, located in the municipality of Sousel, won four medals at the XXIV International Oenological Competition Città del Vino 2026, part of the Special Prize "Iter Vitis". The wine project achieved three Gold Medals and one Silver Medal, recognizing the quality of wines produced in the region. The distinctions were presented on August 28th, during a ceremony held at FATACIL, in Lagoa, promoted by the Association of Portuguese Municipalities of Wine.

Among the award-winning wines, the Alcateia White 2024, Alcateia Red 2024 and Retortinha 2023 Red stand out, all distinguished with Gold Medals, while Retortinha 2023 White received a Silver Medal. The medals hold special significance as this is still a recent project, representing recognition of the work developed by Isabel and Alberto Silva and the continuous commitment to quality and the enhancement of wines from the municipality of Sousel.

Herdade da Retortinha was also present at an event held in Trafaria, in the municipality of Almada, where it presented its wines and introduced the project to new consumers. This participation allowed the brand to be promoted and brought the name of Herdade and the municipality of Sousel to new audiences, contributing to the dissemination of products and the wine identity of the territory.

The Municipality of Sousel congratulated Herdade da Retortinha for the distinctions achieved, considering that the awards constitute a source of pride for the municipality and represent a contribution to the enhancement and dissemination of wines and the territory. With these four new medals, Herdade reinforces the recognition of its work and its commitment to producing quality wines, bringing the name of Sousel to new markets and promotion stages.
