Minister André Mendonça, of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), ordered on Tuesday the preventive removal of the director-general of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues. The measure also affected the director of Police Intelligence of the PF, Leandro Almada da Costa, and resulted in the opening of an investigation at the Internal Affairs Division of the corporation.
Mendonça argued there are indications of participation, knowledge, or omission by the corporation's leadership in the production of intelligence reports that allegedly monitored the magistrate's own activities. The minister criticized the reports used by colleague Alexandre de Moraes, classifying them as "apocryphal."
According to the ruling, the documents did not contain the PF's letterhead or any other graphic symbol capable of conferring legitimacy and reliability. This absence would make it impossible to verify the authorship and date of preparation of the reports.
The minister also stated that he was the target of "extremely generic and abstract" inferences in the analyzed documents.
