Euronews Portugal8 September 2026 at 13:05

The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, traveled to Belgrade for an official visit aimed at strengthening trade relations between the two countries. During the visit, new partnerships and bilateral investments were discussed.

Bilateral trade reached a historic record of 41.9 million dollars in 2025, showing the sustained growth of trade exchanges between Serbia and Uzbekistan. Serbian agri-food exports to the Central Asian country grew 54.1% in the first seven months of 2026, demonstrating particularly strong momentum in this sector.

The parties expressed interest in deepening economic cooperation, studying the possibility of establishing a free trade agreement between the two countries. This initiative could open new opportunities for Serbian exporters in the Uzbek market.

The strengthening of trade relations between Serbia and Uzbekistan is part of a broader context of diversification of economic partnerships by both countries, aimed at reducing dependence on traditional markets and exploring new business opportunities.
