Minister André Mendonça, of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), determined the removal of Andrei Rodrigues from the position of director-general of the Federal Police. The decision was anticipated by columnist Malu Gaspar of O GLOBO.
Mendonça's determination orders that the corporation's Internal Affairs open investigative procedures of a criminal and administrative-disciplinary nature to examine the conduct of Andrei Rodrigues. The rapporteur requires that the Internal Affairs submit to him the measures deemed necessary during the investigations.
The crisis at the STF escalated on Thursday, when Alexandre Moraes presented a request for Mendonça to be investigated for what he classified as "indications of crimes" committed by his Court colleague in the conduct of investigations under his rapporteurship, especially the one related to the Master scandal.
Mendonça's dispatch appeared two days after he removed the seal from a Federal Police report.
