With just one week to go before the start of the school year, there are more than two thousand unfilled positions in Portuguese schools. This situation places pressure on the national education system in the final stretch of preparations for the new school year.
The Minister of Education came forward publicly to guarantee that all vacancies will be filled, thus attempting to reassure parents, students, and teachers in the face of this significant gap in teaching staff.
The high number of unfilled positions represents a considerable logistical challenge for the Ministry of Education, which will need to find available and qualified teachers in a short period of time to ensure that all classes have an assigned teacher.
