The Minister of Internal Administration, Luís Neves, again stated that he will not submit any resignation request during a parliamentary hearing before the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Rights, and Liberties. When questioned by Chega MP Pedro Pinto, Luís Neves said he will leave the Government when the prime minister decides, emphasizing that any minister naturally depends on the prime minister.
During the hearing, the minister acknowledged that he did not submit the assets declaration to the Entity for Transparency and the Constitutional Court while he led the Judicial Police between 2018 and 2026, admitting a "mea culpa" for not remembering this obligation. However, he stated that he has nothing to hide.
Luís Neves also expressed surprise at the Chega party's statements regarding the use of seized vehicles, referring to the car he drives which was seized in the court case that convicted Ruben Oliveira, known as 'Xuxas', to 20 years in prison for drug trafficking. The minister expressed his full willingness to undergo political, judicial, financial, and journalistic scrutiny, stating that none of his decisions aimed at personal enrichment, favoring third parties, or misappropriation of assets.
Among the controversies involving the minister are the delivery of a trailer seized by the PJ in 'Operation Pacoba' to contractor João Carvalho, owner of Construbarcelos, and the construction works in Odemira. These cases are being investigated by the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Administrative and Fiscal Court of Beja, and the Court of Auditors.
