The Academic Federation of Porto (FAP) will take over the management of the first university residence in Póvoa de Varzim, installed in the former Primary School of Grémio, on Rua do Boído. The facility, located a few meters from the metro station, was adapted to accommodate 11 students and marks the municipality's entry into the Academia 24 student housing network.

The building has eight rooms, all with private bathroom, as well as an equipped kitchen, laundry, and common areas. The mayor of Póvoa de Varzim, Andrea Silva, highlighted that the residence is intended to be "a place that can be called home," emphasizing that the municipality wants to play an active role in addressing the student housing crisis affecting the entire metropolitan region.

With this acquisition, FAP now operates three university residences, two in Porto and now one in Póvoa de Varzim, totaling 75 beds. The federation also provides residents with free Passe Andante passes and discounts on urban mobility, in a strategy aimed at facilitating the academic journey of those who commute daily to the university campuses in the region.

Synod: New reports propose changes in the relationship with bishops

The General Secretariat of the Synod published new reports with proposals to change the relationship between dioceses and consecrated life communities, requesting the creation of mandatory diocesan cooperation agreements on mission, formation, gender equality and patrimony management, as well as the appointment of a vicar for consecrated life in each diocese. The second report proposes greater participation of the laity in the preparation of the "ad limina" visits to the Vatican, advocating that a diocesan representation accompany the bishop and that the Holy See establish an independent commission to evaluate the process. These documents, prepared by study groups instituted by the Pope, do not represent final decisions, but indicate directions for operational proposals to be submitted to the Holy Father.
