The Government approved the allocation of 2.02 million euros for the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (PMUS) of 56 municipalities. These plans are intended for municipalities, intermunicipal communities and autonomous regions and are based on the European Sustainable Urban Mobility plan, with a total financial allocation of three million euros.
The highest amounts were attributed to Lisbon and Coimbra, with approximately 75 thousand euros each. Câmara de Lobos appears as the third largest beneficiary, with 60 thousand euros to execute this year. Only Braga reaches the maximum limit of 100 thousand euros per municipality, with two applications to execute in 2026.
The order published in the Official Gazette approves payments for amounts executed in 2025 and programmed for 2026. Lisbon executed 75 thousand euros last year, while Porto has 55.4 thousand euros for this year. Coimbra had already executed 15.75 thousand euros in 2025, in addition to the 59.25 thousand euros planned for 2026.
The PMUS, defined by the Institute of Mobility and Transport (IMT), are sectoral plans that aim to address urban mobility challenges, ensuring mobility options for all citizens, improving road safety, reducing pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, and contributing to the attractiveness and quality of the urban environment.
