The Flexa gallery will bring to the next edition of ArtRIO an unprecedented work by Adriana Varejão, a Brazilian artist known for her work exploring themes such as identity, colonialism, and culture. The piece is called Vaso-plano Maria and is expected to be completed in 2026.
The work is the result of research that the artist is developing on the ceramic tradition of Maragogipinho, a municipality located in the Recôncavo Baiano, a region known for its rich artisanal production of ceramics.
The Vaso-plano Maria originates from a two-mouthed moringa, a traditional object used to store and serve water. The piece explores the possibility of sharing the same water between the two openings, transforming this functional element into a symbolic image of coexistence and sharing between different people or cultures.
