A new decree has created new support for Machado-Joseph patients, a genetic neurodegenerative disease. Among the planned support is a grant for the companion and home caregiver support.

These supports were already planned since 2023, but only now can they finally move forward. The Atlantic Association for Support to Machado-Joseph Patients states that both patients and families are expectant about the implementation of these measures.
