MB WAY made MB WAY pulse available, a device with an NFC chip that allows payments on the MULTIBANCO network without needing to have your phone or physical card with you. The device is associated with one of the existing cards in the MB WAY app and works without battery and without internet connection, with the phone even being able to be turned off.
There are four formats available: Band (bracelet), Watchloop (watch clip), Tag (adaptable to accessories) and Keychain (keyring). Activation is done through the MB WAY app, where the user associates the desired card and sets the usage limit. Each user can have up to five MB WAY pulse devices associated with the same account.
The device can be used in mainland Portugal and the islands, at automatic payment terminals with NFC from the MULTIBANCO network and MB mark. The user can set a monthly payment limit of up to 2,400 euros. For purchases under 50 euros it is not necessary to enter a PIN until reaching a cumulative 150 euros in payments without authentication, at which point verification is required.
In case of loss, the device can be blocked or unblocked through the MB WAY app, where it is also possible to check the amount already used and change the associated card. MB WAY warns that devices should be purchased only through official channels and that the QR code or chip should not be shared with other people.
