Xpeng, a Chinese company best known for its smart electric cars, announced a significant step in robotics by putting into operation its first production line dedicated to humanoid robots. This move represents a strategic diversification for the company beyond the automotive sector.

The first robot to come off this production line was named "Iron". According to the company, Iron managed to exit the production line autonomously, which demonstrates the prototype's self-care and independence capabilities.

Xpeng intends to start mass production of these humanoid robots still during this year. This ambition places the company in a growing segment, where various Chinese and global tech companies compete for the development of humanoid robots for various applications.
