EDIA will make available, in the 2026/2027 school year, a total of 35 educational activities integrated in the project "Alqueva goes to School", aimed at students and teachers of different education levels. The objective is to raise awareness of different dimensions of the Alqueva project, including water management, agriculture, land planning, renewable energies, environment, cultural heritage and tourism.
The activities take place in various spaces in the region, such as the Alqueva Center next to the Alqueva Dam, the Museum of Light in Mourão and the Noudar Nature Park in Barrancos. At the Alqueva Center, students can learn about the history and complexity of the project through interactive content and immersive experiences. At the Museum of Light, they explore the history of the new village and the heritage associated with the territory submerged by the reservoir. At Noudar Park, the activities focus on nature conservation and the relationship between agriculture and biodiversity.
The new educational offering was designed to bring school content closer to the reality of the territory, through practical experiences and direct contact with infrastructure, landscapes and communities. The program also includes activities held in other EDIA spaces and classroom proposals.
The official presentation of the educational offering will take place on September 10th, at 10:30 AM, at the Alqueva Center, in a session aimed at teachers from school clusters and professional schools in the area of influence of Alqueva.
