Livre announces vote against no-confidence motion presented by Chega

dnoticias.pt8 September 2026 at 10:20

Livre will vote against the no-confidence motion against the PSD/CDS-PP Government presented by Chega, which will be debated today in parliament. The motion is guaranteed to be rejected, since the PSD/CDS-PP has an absolute majority and the PS has already announced it will vote against, in addition to Livre itself.

The decision by Livre was made unanimously at the Livre Assembly, which is the party's highest body between congresses. The meeting took place on Monday night, and an official source from the Parliamentary Group provided this information to the Luther agency.

The spokesperson and parliamentary leader of Livre, Isabel Mendes Lopes, had already highlighted last week, in statements to journalists, the party's position regarding this no-confidence motion. The party led by Isabel Mendes Lopes considers that the motion presented by Chega does not deserve Livre's support.
