Whisky and wine are the healthiest alcoholic beverages? "No level of alcohol consumption is safe"

SAPO Notícias8 September 2026 at 09:31

A video shared on TikTok claims that whisky and wine, when consumed in moderation, are "two of the healthiest alcoholic beverages in the world." The post's author claims that "a glass of wine at the end of the night greatly improves" health.

However, the World Health Organization (WHO) warns that "no level of alcohol consumption is safe." This position directly contradicts the health benefit claims frequently associated with moderate wine and other alcoholic beverage consumption.

The video went viral on the TikTok platform, where multiple content creators regularly share claims about the supposed benefits of moderate alcohol consumption, particularly wine and whisky.

Health experts warn that claims about the benefits of alcohol lack solid scientific basis, and that even moderate consumption is associated with health risks.
