The Portuguese Parliament debated and voted this Tuesday on a motion of censure presented by the Chega party. The parliamentary session was devoted exclusively to the consideration of this motion.
For the motion of censure to be approved, it would be necessary to obtain the favorable vote of 116 deputies, representing an absolute majority of parliament.
The Socialist Party (PS), which is the party that sustains the current government, had already announced that it would abstain from voting on this motion of censure.
This position of the PS practically guarantees that the Chega motion of censure will not be approved, since abstention does not count as a favorable vote.
