Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos) adopted a more moderate speech during the September 7th event this Monday on Avenida Paulista, in São Paulo, in contrast to the tone used at the same event in 2024. Last year, he surprised even allies by using harsh terms like "tyranny" and "dictatorship" to refer to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, from the Supreme Federal Court (STF).
This year, although he maintained mentions of Moraes, the criticisms were milder and more generic. Tarcísio stated that the recent revelations about the minister and the Supreme Court need an institutional response, highlighting the need for investigation into the conduct and the exercise of the magistracy.
The governor defended that it is time for the court to unite to investigate and give the response that society awaits. He also reinforced a maxim by stating that absolutely no one is above the law or the Constitution, mentioning that bankers, senators, ministers, governors, and presidents would not be exempt from this rule.
