During the visit of a Hindu delegation to the Eiffel Tower, on Saturday, the women who work at the monument were "marginalized and made invisible". The tower closed this Monday due to a strike by workers "shocked" by the delegation's request: "to limit interactions with women".
On the sidelines of the inauguration of a Hindu temple near Paris, presented as the largest in Europe, a delegation visited the Eiffel Tower. But "professional instructions" led to "the marginalization, replacement and making invisible of female workers because of their gender", says a statement from the staff, sent to AFP by the CGT union.
SETE, the company that manages the Eiffel Tower, confirmed having received a "request to reduce interactions with women", but said it refused to implement such a discriminatory measure. Workers declared themselves on strike this Monday, causing the closure of the Parisian monument.
