Trump publishes map with US flag covering Mexico, the Caribbean and Canada

SAPO Notícias8 September 2026 at 07:05

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, published on social media a map showing the US flag covering not only American territory, but also Mexico, the Caribbean and Canada. This image comes at a time when Trump has repeatedly expressed his expansionist ambitions regarding neighboring territories.

During his second term, Trump has made clear his intentions to expand the territory of the United States. The President expressed particular interest in Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark, and even suggested that the United States should acquire or control this strategic Arctic region.

Regarding Canada, Trump also expressed a desire to incorporate the neighboring country, going so far as to talk about turning Canada into a "51st star" on the American flag. These statements caused diplomatic tensions between Washington and Ottawa.

Regarding Cuba, Trump did not rule out the possibility of military intervention to take the island, although no further details were specified about how or when such action could occur. His statements have generated international concern and adverse reactions from various neighboring governments.
