The Portuguese Parliament debates this Tuesday, September 8, the motion of censure presented by Chega against the Government. According to the party, the motion aims to censure the Prime Minister and the Executive for maintaining Luís Neves in the position of Minister of Internal Administration. The debate has a planned duration of 166 minutes and will begin at 3:00 PM. Because of this vote, all meetings of the parliamentary committees scheduled for the day were cancelled, which will have to be rescheduled.
Luís Neves will also be present at the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms and Guarantees at 10:00 AM. Among the cancelled meetings were hearings on domestic violence at the Parliamentary Subcommittee for Equality, a meeting of the Defence Committee about the alleged exclusion of a Portuguese company from the acquisition process of three frigates, and hearings at the Culture Committee with RTP about the management of the public media service.
The National Statistics Institute releases this Tuesday data on transport activity in the second semester, the cost index of construction of new housing from July 2026 and the index of turnover volume, employment, remuneration and hours worked in industry. The OECD also presents the PISA 2025 results, which assess reading, mathematics and science competencies of 15-year-old students, as well as financial literacy and creative thinking.
