The Assembly of the Republic discusses and votes today on the motion of censure presented by Chega against the Government of Luís Montenegro. This motion was presented by the Chega party as an instrument of political control over the executive led by Montenegro.
The Chega party, led by André Ventura, is responsible for presenting this motion of censure against the socialist Government of Luís Montenegro. The far-right party thus intends to demonstrate its opposition to the Prime Minister's governance.
The rejection of the motion is practically guaranteed, since the PS, the party supporting the PSD minority government, has already announced it will vote against. The PCP and the BE are also expected to vote against the motion, ensuring its rejection in the vote.
The Government of Luís Montenegro is a minority executive of the PSD that depends on agreements with other parties to pass legislation in parliament, which makes the motion of censure a political action by Chega to stake out a position.
