Germany defends that sending weapons to Israel complies with rules

Now7 September 2026 at 22:10

Germany defended itself before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against a complaint filed by Nicaragua. The German defense lawyer argued that all arms exports to Israel are subject to rigorous licensing requirements.

According to the German defense, these licensing requirements exceed the international standards required for this type of export. This position was presented during the court hearing.

Nicaragua was the country that brought this action against Germany, questioning the arms exports to Israel. The case is being heard at the ICJ, the main judicial body of the United Nations.

This hearing marks an important moment in the dispute between the two countries, with Germany maintaining that it complies with all international obligations in its arms export decisions.
