The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, in Ukraine, has restored its external power connection after nearly three weeks of interruption. The critical infrastructure of the facility had been without connection to the external power grid during this period.
The plant has been under Russian occupation since March 2022. The situation at the power plant has been a source of international concern due to the risks associated with its operation during the armed conflict.
The restoration of the power connection is essential to ensure proper cooling of the reactors and prevent potential nuclear accidents at the facility.
