Two years after the media-savvy escape from Vale de Judeus prison, the Prison Guard Corps Union states that nothing has changed in the prison surveillance system. The escape became one of the most discussed cases in the Portuguese prison system.
The union assures that, despite all the promises made by the Executive to improve the surveillance system, the situation remains unchanged. The authorities have not implemented the promised improvements.
The Vale de Judeus prison facility itself continues without the necessary changes, according to the union. The prison guard maintains that the conditions in the prison have not been updated.
