After Portela, Mangueira and Mocidade, it's Beija-Flor, Vila, Salgueiro and Tijuca's turn to choose the sambas for 2027

The marathon toward Carnival 2027 is in full swing in Rio de Janeiro, and by the end of this month all the samba schools in the Special Group will have chosen the sambas that will be presented in the parades at Marquês de Sapucaí. Last weekend, Portela, Mangueira and Mocidade defined their songs, and this week it's Beija-Flor, Vila Isabel, Salgueiro and Tijuca's turn to hold their finals.

Paraiso do Tuiuti was the first school to release its samba, on July 31. Unlike the other schools, Tuiuti did not hold a contest and commissioned the song directly from composers Claudio Russo, Gustavo Clarão and Luiz Antônio Simas. This year also marks the debut of veteran Renato Lage as the school's carnival designer.

Goodbye to very light blonde? Hair colors gaining strength in 2026

After seasons dominated by very light blondes and platinum tones, hair should move toward warmer and deeper shades in 2026, with emphasis on deep reds, intense browns, coppers and honey tones as alternatives for those seeking changes without radical transformations. Hair artist Mari Borges highlights that the choice of color goes beyond aesthetics, considering skin tone, eyes, eyebrows, facial features and especially the personality of the wearer, since hair color interferes with the perception of the face.
