The number of dead from the sinking of a ferry off the coast of Cyprus increased to 14 people. The president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, announced this Monday this update to the death toll. The accident occurred off the coast of Kyrenia, in the northern part of the island controlled by the self-proclaimed Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Erdogan was the source who confirmed the updated number of dead.

A manhole on Rua do Catete, at Largo do Machado, in Rio de Janeiro's South Zone, released intense smoke on Monday afternoon, scaring pedestrians passing by. The Center for Operations and Resilience (COR-Rio) registered the occurrence near number 11 on the street, after being contacted by the Municipal Conservation Secretariat (Seconserva). The Light utility company was called to handle the case, and the Fire Department was also informed about the incident. To ensure safety during the response, one traffic lane had to be closed. So far, no victims have been reported.
