Young woman reacts to kidnapping attempt with pepper spray and jumps from moving car: 'She saw that he was very nervous'

A 16-year-old teenager escaped a kidnapping attempt in Engenho Novo, in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, last Friday (4). The young woman was returning from school and was passing through Rua Dona Romana, her usual path to the condominium where her grandmother lives.

According to the teenager's father, she noticed an opportunity while she was inside the suspect's car. The young woman noticed that the man was very nervous and, when he looked at the rearview mirror, she used a pepper spray against him and jumped from the moving vehicle.

Footage from a security camera at the location, which the father had access to, shows that the suspect parked the car approximately one minute before the teenager passed by the location. The family is still trying to find out if the man had already seen the young woman previously or if he turned around the block to approach her.
