Father Aires Gameiro, a priest of the Hospital Order of St. John of God, will present his latest book, "St. John of God and the Dimensions of his Hospitality – Monographic Essays," in Funchal. The presentation session is scheduled for Friday, October 2nd, at 5:30 PM, at the Rectory of the University of Madeira, at the Jesuit College, on Rua dos Ferreiros.
The work, published by Manufactura and with 336 pages, brings together several essays and studies dedicated to the life, action, and spiritual legacy of St. John of God, founder of the Hospital Order. The book addresses the different dimensions of hospitality, mercy, and service to the most vulnerable that marked the work of the Portuguese saint and the tradition that came from him. The presentation in Funchal will be led by Paula Margarido, the regional secretary for Inclusion, Labour and Youth.
The book results from work developed by Aires Gameiro over several years and presented at various moments in congresses, cultural initiatives, and commemorations related to St. John of God.
After the presentation in Madeira, the work will have a new public session in Fátima, on October 8th, at 8:30 PM, at the São João de Deus Training and Spirituality Centre. In this presentation, which is free entry and promoted by the Portuguese Province of the Hospital Order of St. John of God, Professor Marco Daniel Duarte, director of the Sanctuary Museum of Fátima and the Academy of Studies of the same institution, will be responsible for presenting the work.
