Norwegian justice has extended the pretrial detention of Marius Borg Høiby, son of Princess Märtha Louise of Norway. The decision was made while legal proceedings related to the crimes he is accused of are underway.
Marius Borg Høiby was sentenced to four years in prison. The sentence involves two separate cases of rape that were tried together by Norwegian judicial authorities.
In addition to the rape convictions, the Norwegian princess's son was also found guilty of abuse against one of his ex-girlfriends. This domestic violence case was added to the two rape cases already in the proceedings.
Princess Märtha Louise, third in line to the Norwegian throne, is the mother of Marius Borg Høiby, whose case has received significant media attention in Norway. The extension of pretrial detention occurs while the next steps of the legal process are awaited.
