National Road Safety Authority appeals for caution near schools

Funchal Notícias7 September 2026 at 18:18

The National Road Safety Authority (ANSR) launched on September 7, 2026, the "Back to School" campaign, which aims to warn drivers about the increased risks in areas near schools during this period.

The campaign emphasizes the decisive impact that a vehicle's speed can have in the event of a pedestrian being hit, warning about the danger of driving at high speeds near educational establishments.

The main message of the campaign is "There are no excuses big enough," continuing a communication line that had already been used during the summer, reinforcing the idea that there are no acceptable justifications for risky behavior on the road.

The initiative comes at the start of the school year, a time when there is a significant increase in the presence of children and young people on public roads, making it essential for drivers to adopt safer behaviors.
