The National Road Safety Authority (ANSR) launched today an awareness campaign for the return to school, alerting to the risks of pedestrian accidents at speeds of 50 kilometres per hour. The campaign, titled "There are no excuses big enough", aims to raise driver awareness of the need for greater care when driving near schools.
According to ANSR, the probability of a pedestrian accident at 50 kilometres per hour having fatal consequences for a pedestrian reaches 90%. This data serves as the basis for the campaign's central alert, which seeks to demonstrate that high speeds in areas near educational establishments represent a real danger to pedestrian safety.
The main message of the initiative is "Haste can cost a life", appealing to the responsibility of all drivers. The campaign remains active after the summer period, accompanying the progressive return to school activities across the country.
