Toyota and Scania announced a partnership to test hydrogen fuel cell technology in heavy transport. The two companies will collaborate on the development of solutions for heavy vehicles through a testing program integrated into real logistics operations in Europe.
As part of this collaboration, Toyota will supply fuel cell systems for 40 Scania heavy vehicles. This partnership represents a significant step in the application of hydrogen technology in the commercial transport sector.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to decarbonize heavy transport, which traditionally depends on fossil fuels. Real-world testing will allow for the evaluation of the performance and viability of this technology in the day-to-day operations of European logistics.
