The Summer School of the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation took place this year under the theme "(Dis)information and Democracy", an edition dedicated to media literacy and critical thinking. The program aimed to empower young people to identify and analyze information, distinguishing reliable sources from false or manipulated content.
In this program, 59 young people participated, who had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge about how disinformation can influence democracy and society. The training included tools and methodologies for detecting fake news and critically evaluating the information they consume daily.
The initiative comes in a context where the proliferation of disinformation on digital platforms represents a growing challenge for democratic societies. Teaching young people to be suspicious of seemingly credible information has become a fundamental educational and social objective.
