The parish of Lousado is preparing to host the biggest Romaria Nova in its history, between September 10 and 12, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the festivities, which run until September 26. The organization is in the hands of a festivities committee made up of 37 members, whose ages range from 13 to 50 years old. The committee president, Nuno Bezerra, highlights the involvement of the entire community, while members such as Bruna Sousa, José Leite and Vítor Lopes report on the challenges of balancing personal and professional life with preparing the event.
The music lineup includes renowned artists such as UHF (Friday), Diogo Piçarra (Saturday) and Quim Barreiros (Sunday), seeking to please all generations. The scale of the headliners required logistical changes: the main stage was moved from Montezelo to the front of the church and cemetery, a larger space that allows the public to gather safely. A food zone was also created on top of Montezelo, with a common terrace.
To commemorate the 150 years, original traditions have been revived, including 150 mortars and fireworks in front of the church, the location from which it had been transferred to Trofa. Elisiário Pinto, a native of Lousado and a member of the centenary committee 50 years ago, praises the youth who embraced tradition and brought innovation. Expectations are high and the organization invites locals and visitors to mark their presence.
