Fortress of Valença nominated for the final of the New 7 Wonders of Portugal

Rádio Alto Minho7 September 2026 at 15:49

Fortaleza de Valença has been nominated for the final phase of the "New 7 Wonders of Portugal" contest. This nomination comes after months of traveling across the country and intense popular voting that involved the Portuguese in choosing the best national heritage sites.

The contest aims to crown seven Portuguese heritage sites as the new wonders of Portugal. Twenty-one national candidates were selected for the final, organized with three in each category defined by the contest.

Only one winner will be chosen in each category, which makes the competition particularly fierce among the candidates. The final decision is about to be made, with only the question remaining of which heritage sites will receive the title of Portuguese wonder.
