The event marks another step in the rapprochement between Lula and Alcolumbre, after a three-month period of total political separation. The crisis between the two was triggered in April, when the Senate rejected the nomination of Jorge Messias for a vacancy on the Supreme Federal Court.
Supreme Court President Edson Fachin also attended the event. The campaign strategy also involves maneuvering within the Supreme Court itself, where Moraes and Mendonça are charting strategies for a public battle, while Fachin awaits clarification on the court's direction.
On the opposition side, Flavio Bolsonaro's campaign is preparing an offensive against Lula at the Superior Electoral Court, seeking to weaken the president's re-election bid in the weeks leading up to the vote.
