The Standing Committee of the Assembly of the Republic approved today, unanimously, the convocation of a plenary session for Tuesday, aimed at debating and voting on the motion of censure by the Chega party against the Government. The meeting of the body lasted only three minutes and served essentially to formalize this deliberation.
In addition to the convocation of the plenary, the Standing Committee also voted on replacements of deputies during its brief session. The body operates outside the effective functioning period of the Assembly of the Republic, acting as a management instance during these intervals.
Chega's motion of censure against the Government will be subject to debate and voting at tomorrow's plenary session, although the defeat of the motion is already assured, since the left and PSD, the party that supports the executive, are not expected to vote in favor of the far-right party's initiative.
