The Nucleus of Lamego of the League of Combatants celebrated on Sunday its 102nd anniversary with a ceremony honoring the combatants who lost their lives in service of the Nation. The central moment of the celebrations took place at the Monument to Combatants, where a wreath was laid.
The ceremony was attended by the president of the Municipal Chamber of Lamego, Francisco Lopes, the president of the Nucleus of Lamego, Colonel Valdemar Lima, and the commander of the Special Operations Troops Center, Colonel Paulo Roxo.
Francisco Lopes highlighted the role of the Nucleus in preserving historical memory and supporting former combatants, reaffirming the Municipality's availability to maintain collaboration with the institution. The mayor also mentioned the intention to work alongside the Government for the creation of new facilities for the headquarters of the Nucleus.
The celebrations also included the awarding of decorations to Ultramar combatants and the delivery of diplomas.
