The Civil Police are investigating an attempted kidnapping of a 15-year-old girl that occurred on Friday night (4), in the neighborhood of Engenho Novo, in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The young woman was returning from school when she was approached by a man in a white car with tinted windows. Security cameras in the area recorded the entire action.
The suspect stopped the vehicle next to the teenager and, when she prepared to hand over her cell phone, he pulled her into the car. With the vehicle already in motion, the young woman remembered a pepper spray that her grandfather had left with her. When the suspect looked in the rearview mirror, she sprayed the product in his face.
Upon realizing that the man had turned his face away, the teenager opened the door of the moving car and jumped out. Upon falling, she hit her head on the ground and suffered abrasions on her knee. The cell phone, which was attached to her waist, fell during the escape, while the teenager's bag remained inside the vehicle. The young woman managed to escape unharmed, despite the injuries.
