The Natural History Society promotes on September 12, Saturday, between 09:00 and 12:30, an interpretive visit to the Jurassic Cliffs of the Foz do Sizandro, in Torres Vedras. The activity is dedicated to geotourism and the enhancement of the region's natural heritage, inviting the public to explore geological formations that bear witness to millions of years of Earth's evolution.
The cliffs of the area hold traces of ancient marine environments, tectonic movements and sedimentary processes that shaped the territory over geological ages. During the visit, the Natural History Society team will guide participants in the observation of paleontological remains, rock structures and habitats associated with local biodiversity, allowing them to understand landscape transformation and the importance of geodiversity.
The initiative aims to bring the public closer to science and promotes an environmental education experience in direct contact with the territory, highlighting the scientific and cultural value of the Jurassic cliffs. The organization calls on the community to learn about and preserve this heritage, reinforcing the accessible and educational nature of the visit.
