The Ministry of Environment and Energy of Portugal announced it has fully met all targets established by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), with total investment exceeding 1.8 billion euros. The PRR is the European economic recovery program implemented after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Minister of Environment and Energy Maria da Graça Carvalho stated that the PRR enabled the acceleration of a structural transformation of the country. The program brought significant funds to modernize strategic sectors of the Portuguese economy.
The ministry's investments covered several priority areas, including energy efficiency, water management, bioeconomy, renewable gases, and energy storage. These areas were identified as fundamental for Portugal's energy transition and environmental sustainability.
The full achievement of PRR targets represents an important milestone for the country, demonstrating the Portuguese government's execution capacity in absorbing European funds and implementing environment and energy policies.
