The Municipality of Macedo de Cavaleiros will grant, posthumously, the Medal of Merit – Gold Degree to António Cravo. The tribute ceremony will take place on Saturday, September 12, at 4:00 PM, in the Hall of the Rural Museum of Salselas, and is open to community participation.
António Cravo was native to Salselas and dedicated a great part of his career to the investigation and preservation of the history, culture and traditions of Macedo de Cavaleiros. Throughout his life, he distinguished himself as a poet, historian and sociologist, leaving a significant legacy in the region.
Among his main contributions is the creation of the Rural Museum of Salselas, as well as the work developed in the enhancement of the Pauliteiros of Salselas. These initiatives contributed decisively to the preservation of the identity and cultural heritage of the municipality.
The Medal of Merit – Gold Degree aims to officially recognize the contribution of António Cravo to the memory and identity of Macedo de Cavaleiros, celebrating his role in the enhancement of the traditions and local heritage.
