A man was arrested and placed in preventive detention on suspicion of raping his minor niece in Amadora. The suspect, the victim's uncle, is now subject to deprivation-of-liberty precautionary measures.

The child was raped in the early morning of September 1 at the suspect's residence in Amadora. The victim was spending holidays with her uncle at his house in that municipality of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area.

The minor eventually revealed the crime to other family members, who subsequently filed a complaint with the authorities. The case is being investigated by the police authorities.

The suspect was heard in court and placed in preventive detention, the most severe precautionary measure applied to defendants during the investigation phase.
